Welcome to the Garden

The 62nd Street Community Garden was established in March 2010. In 2014 it became part of NeighborSpace, Chicago's land trust. During 2015-2016, the garden was leveled, with new organic soil installed over a soil barrier, and 94 new raised bed plots were created.  These plots are leased to individual families for the growing season to independently plant, maintain and harvest.

Our garden is committed to growing food organically and to giving back to our neighbors. Our garden is an inviting green space open to the community.  We grow a variety of vegetables in garden boxes along the sidewalks where neighbors are invited to harvest. Many of our gardeners also participate in our Gleaning Program, where gardeners donate their extra produce to the Hyde Park Kenwood Food Pantry..
